Did you know...?

..a bat may eat from 300 to 3,000 insects per night!

...the name porcupine means pig with spines! Porcupines like to feed on tree bark, buds and small twigs.

...flying squirrels don't actually fly but glide from tree to tree! Bats are the only mammals that really fly.

...the smallest owl in Wisconsin is the saw-whet owl (8 inches). The largest owl is the great grey owl (24 inches) with a FIVE FOOT wing span!

...snakes hibernate in the winter, often in groups of more than 50!

...a hummingbird's wings beat more than 100 times per second! A hummingbird nest is only TWO INCHES in diameter.
