Injury:
Blinded in right eye
TJ is a female American Kestrel that was found by a
researcher in the Stevens Point area. While checking a nestbox for
young kestrels to band she discovered TJ. TJ was much smaller than
her nest mates and her right eye appeared to be infected. It was
decided to bring her to the Center to be raised as an orphan.
Shortly after coming to the Center her head turned completely upside
down. (This may have happened due to a birth defect or lack of
proper nutriention before she came to us.) Eventually by the end
of the summer her her head turn right side up again, but she has little
to no sight in her right eye due to the infection.
TJ became a member of our education team in the fall
of 2008. She will be used as one of our education birds in our
Birds of Prey and help teach people about falcons.
*TJ is our only bird to have two names.
