Befriend Cecil!

Injury:  Blind in left eye

Cecil entered our doors on June 3, 2009.  He was found by concerned citizens in the middle of the road in Vilas county.  They contacted the local DNR who then brought it to the Center.  We are not sure how he received damage to his eye, but possibility might have been hit by a car since he was found in the road.  With only one eye a young owl's chances of learning to hunt successfully are very slim.

On July 13, 2009 Cecil officially became one of our permanent residents and joined our other Northern Saw-whet owl, Cosmo.  Cecil was named by the people who found him.  The name is quite fitting as Cecil means "blind".
